Addiction Counseling in Ohio

Counseling, or therapy, plays an important role in addiction treatment. It provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where people struggling with addiction can explore the underlying reasons behind their substance use and develop effective coping strategies.

Eagle HealthWorks provides addiction counseling services in Ohio to create a safe space for patients to address emotional and mental health issues that may have contributed to their addiction. Through various therapeutic approaches, we support patients in gaining insight into their destructive patterns, learning healthier ways of managing stress, and developing the necessary skills for long-term recovery.

Together, we look at the root causes of addiction, promote healing, and empower you to make lasting changes in your life.

We Provide Addiction Counseling for Various Substance Abuse Disorders

Eagle HealthWorks has experience in counseling patients who are struggling with various substance abuse disorders, including:

  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Nicotine use disorder
  • Opioid use disorder (heroin and fentanyl)
  • Sedative use disorder (benzodiazepines)
  • Stimulant use disorder (cocaine and methamphetamine)

Personalized Treatment Plans

We offer individual therapy and tailor our approach to you. Our addiction counseling includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and reality therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This form of therapy helps people identify and challenge negative or distorted thought patterns and provides them with the necessary skills to change unhelpful thoughts and problematic behaviors.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-centered therapy provides a safe space for people to explore and better understand their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. It focuses on self-acceptance, personal growth, and the importance of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness in the therapeutic relationship.

Reality Therapy

Reality therapy concentrates on the here and now, focusing on responsible decision-making and taking action. It encourages personal accountability and helps individuals understand the consequences of their choices. This therapy emphasizes a collaborative approach that explores your wants, needs, and goals to help you develop effective strategies for change.

How the Process Works

Typically, weekly counseling appointments are recommended at the beginning as you initiate treatment and stabilize. As your treatment progresses, we can go to bi-weekly meetings if appropriate. Sessions start at 30 minutes.

Your progress is based solely on your goals, which are incorporated into your individual treatment plan. Everything we do is personalized to you and your specific needs. Our goal is to create and maintain a genuine and positive therapeutic relationship to support you throughout your recovery.

You are not penalized or discharged if you relapse. We will simply reevaluate your need for counseling and may return to weekly sessions.

Significant others and family members are welcome to engage in your addiction counseling so long as it is helpful to your recovery and we have the appropriate release of information.

While most addiction counseling is in-person, we can do telehealth (virtual) appointments under certain circumstances.

All of our counselors are licensed and certified by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board or the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services. Our experienced team understands the struggles you are facing and is here to support you in a caring, judgment-free environment to help you change your life.

Samantha Sanders

“Eagle Healthworks has helped me change my life in so many ways. Their professional good doctors and counselors, nursing staff, and receptionist are all really good caring people. I would recommend calling Eagle HealthWorks.”

Christopher Hall

“Very amazing group of people from the receptionist to the doctors and counselors, and even the owner. This is how addiction therapy should be: without judgment, rude people, snide remarks, and dirty looks! They treat you with respect and genuinely care. The counselors are 2 of the best people I have ever met. Most addicts don’t trust people, so being able to open up and feel comfortable is an amazing feeling! Thank you for your compassion and willingness to help.”
